Ford Leaving India !!
Today in this blog we are going to talk about "Why did Ford leave India? ", Ford is one of the most well-known companies in the world. Despite offering better built, great driving dynamics, and moreover, mind-boggling performance. Ford was unable to attract customers.
Now, we are going to talk about five reasons why "Ford Motors" left India.
1. Bad looks, which didn't attract many
If you look at the Ford Figo and the Aspire, the looks of the car are not that great, if we compare with its competitors Swift, i10 nios, etc. Moreover, Ford takes its own sweet time to launch the facelift of its existing cars.
2. Service Network
The service network of Ford is not comparable to "MSIL" (Maruti Suzuki India Limited). In addition, there is a lack of service centers in rural India. If we look at Mahindra, the majority of their Scorpios are sold in rural India because of the availability of ample service centers, but that is not the case with Ford. The majority of the service centers are located in the Urban part of India.
3. Prices were High
Ford cars were heavily charged, and the features offered at that price point were very few. Many people were in the search of automatic cars however the Figo which competes against the Maruti Swift and Hyundai i10 nios, Ford fulfilled the need of an automatic gearbox in late July this year.
4. Over $2 bn losses
As per a report, the company has incurred a lot of losses, which are about 2 billion dollars, which has made the company to close down its operation in India.
5. Manufacturing plants were underutilised
Ford motor India had to shut down its business because, two plants one in Marimalai in Southern India and Sanand in Gujarat are said to be underutilized at the moment. So the company was incurring heavy losses cause of this.
