 All-new Hyundai i20

Today we are going to have a look at the all-new Hyundai i20. As we know Hyundai is known for its stand-out features and its reliable technology. Hyundai has never compromised on its fit and finish and the quality of plastics used in the cars. So let's have a look at the new i20 and find out why is going to be a better option to choose i20 over the trendy compact SUVs.

Stand out features of the all-new Hyundai i20.

- Wireless charging with cooling

- 10.25-inch touchscreen

- blue ambient lighting

1. Engine

Now, the Hyundai i20 has a lot of features, talking about the technical part of the car it gets 1.2-liter kappa petrol and the 1.0ltr turbo petrol engine, if I get a choice to pick one, I would pick the 1.0 ltr petrol. The turbo engine produces 120 ps of power and 170nm of torque. If you want a car mainly for the cities and occasional holiday trips the 1.2 makes more sense than the turbo petrol.

Reasons to avoid 1.0ltr turbo petrol Engine

1. It is only available with the top variant.

2. Mileage of car is less (10.25 kmpl)

3. Turbo petrol engines are expensive to maintain

4. Higher maintenance cost

Reasons to buy the 1.0ltr turbocharged petrol engine

1. 120PS power makes it fun to drive

2. causes less pollution

3. best for the driving enthusiast

We also get to see the diesel engine. which is the 1.5 ltr U2 diesel engine 98bhp of max power with 240 nm of torque. Even the old i20 was surfing on the road with the same engine. So, the engine is tried and tested, many people are satisfied with this engine.

2. Suspension, steering, and brake

We get to see a bit of soft suspension set up in the car, The suspensions of the car remain unchanged. McPherson Strut for the front part and coupled torsion beam axle for the rear. Moreover, shock absorbers type Gas filled. The steering wheel is quite responsive as such cause it gets an electric steering wheel. When we were testing the brakes, the quality of braking remains unchanged. we get to see the disc in the front and a drum brake in the rear.

3. Dimensions and capacity

When we look at the cars in the premium hatchback segment, we could notice that i20 has been the widest.

it has an overall length of 3995 m, a width of 1775m, and an overall height of  1505m. The car looks in perfect proportion and has a great road presence. The boot space of the car is one of the best in the segment -311 ltrs, more than enough for a Goa trip. The car has a total of 2580 meters of wheelbase. There is a large amount of rear space and legroom.

4. Safety

Now let's see how safe this car is for you, as per me I can't comment on this part as the car has not been crash-tested in the GNCAP. If talking about the safety features of the car ABS, EBD, and dual airbags as a standard feature, if you are planning to buy the top variant, we will get 6 airbags which are a good move by Hyundai. Other features like - Day and night IRVM and passenger side IRVM, Rear Seat Belts, Seat Belt Warning, Door Ajar Warning, Side Impact Beams, Front Impact Beams, Adjustable Seats, Tyre Pressure Monitor, Engine Immobilizer, Crash Sensor, Centrally Mounted Fuel Tank, Engine Check Warning, Automatic Headlamps, Clutch Lock, EBD, Rear Camera, Anti-Theft Device, Anti-Pinch Power- WindowsDriver's Window, Speed Alert, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock.

Some advanced safety features like - Puddle lamps with welcome function, Driver rearview monitor (DRVM), Emergency stop signal (ESS), BlueLink buttons (SOS, RSA, BlueLink) on inside rearview mirror, Smart pedal, Headlamp escort function, Burglar alarm, Rear defogger with timer, Driver & passenger seatbelt reminder, High mount stop lamp.

Conclusion - Now talking about the car, it was and will be one of the best products from Hyundai. if you want a performance-oriented premium hatchback then, I would suggest you go for Polo. However, if you keep safety as your first priority then I would suggest the all-new Tata Altroz. Whereas, if you want a premium-looking and balanced performance car, you can't go wrong with the all-new i20.
