Should You Buy a Car With a Dual-Clutch Transmission?

Fortunately, the Indian market is getting to see some exciting products from car manufacturers. One such product is the "DCT" transmission, you get to see the "DCT" transmission with the turbo engines, which are slowly making their debut in the Indian market. "DCT" transmission is known for its seamless shifts, you are not going to feel any lag whatsoever. Volkswagen was the first automotive company that brought in the "DCT" gearbox concept in the Indian Market, with the patented name "DSG" Direct gear shifts.








If talking about the working of the system, as the name suggests it has two clutches. One clutch is responsible for shifting even number gears and the other is for the odd number gears. This ensures that there is no lag and the gear shifts are seamless. The gearbox is equipped with two modes the manual and the automatic. So, if you want to drive on highways, one can prefer to switch to the manual mode, and if you are struggling with the city traffic you can prefer the automatic mode. In the automatic mode, the computer chooses which gear has to be engaged, so you get a hassle-free driving experience. The "DCT" transmission is an advanced type of transmission, however, it is not suitable for Indian road conditions. Many people have reportedly faced heating issues, in the Indian traffic conditions also like the user manual of some of the cars having "DCT" transmission should not be driven on hills, because it may cause the transmission to heat up.




How to drive a DCT car

1. When you are in a standstill position do not forget to put your car in neutral mode.

2. Use a handbrake on an incline - so that the car clutches do not heat up

3. Don't use half break in the traffic

4. Do not use Manal upshifts while breaking
